C2 Windshield wiper cables

I have removed the wiper system on me '62 Vette in this order;
Motor, removed basels and lossened left and right wiper transmissions, loosend and pulled motor mount from fire wall revealing four cable pully, marked and removed cables fron pully, removed left and right transmissions from under dash leaving cables attached to same.
My question is how best to reattach cables to main pully and reinstall the system? How does one keep the four cables from slipping off the main pully as it is pushed back thru the fire wall and reattach the motor mount? Is there a proceedure to test the system prior to reinstalling the motor and energizing it?

you'll need the c-1 shop manual to figure this one out.too complicated for me to describe in a few words. good luck, mike

A tip to hold the cables on the pulley is masking tape.

A buddy under the hood holding the capstan assembly as you assemble the cables under the dash works well. Just don't forget the right side cables are crossed while the left are not. Get the cables on the correct capstans. Assemble the motor last.
