    63 trailing arms

    Hello all
Just went to have a wheel alignment done and discovered my rr trailing arm is slightly bent. Now the question is did they have a vertical bead of weld mid length in the arm when they were new. It seems both mine have this weld which seems to suit no purpose. On finding out that mine was bent I was wondering if someone had welded a plate on there for straightening/pulling purposes and never ground off the weld after removing the plate. Can any other 63 owners tell me if they also show this weld?
    Thanks in advance

Just to get this thread going

I don't recall any vertical weld beads on my '63 trailing arms. If your car is in fact one of a kind, I will submit that someone has split your trailing arms with either a hack saw or a torch, bent them to get toe and then welded back up. Highly possible, yes. Likely, no. I might be easier than doing it the right way.

      Re: Oh heck I'll bite

My 68 trailing arms have no other welds on them other than the welded brackets for the brake lines and e-brake cable.

The only welds are the stiches to keep the two shell halfs together.

Pretty sure the trailing arm shell configurations are universal from 63 up through 82

I think Mike has the answer nailed.

        Re: 63 trailing arms

No vertical weld beads midway down the length on my original 63 arms that I can see, just the brake line bracket/tab welded on the inside vertical surface. Was the weld around all 4 walls or just on the inside (or outside)?
