Need a Cylinder Head Plug

I am having trouble finding a correct cylinder head plug for a 350 engine. The plug has a 1/2" NPT thread and a 3/8" square hole to install and remove it. Corvette Central shows to have it, but they sent a 1" NPT thread plug with a 0.6" square hole in it.

That plug should be a good hardware store or plumbing supply store item. It is not unique to GM

The plumbing plugs now have a square fitting that sticks out instead of a square hole. And the ones for engines now have an Allen hole instead of a square hole.

The one's with the recessed square are called square socket plugs. It is a stock item at large plumbing supply stores. McMaster Carr lists them in their catalog for $1.05 part # 44605K236

If your into "350 head plugs" Allen I might have a loose one you can have for the shipping costs.

If all else fails, if what you need is a 1/2" NPT square, socket head plug, then GM #25522466 is what you're after. This plug GM lists for about a buck-and-a-quarter, but it is supplied in a bag of 10. If you order it from a dealer that doesn't stock it, they'll want you to buy the whole package quantity.

That's right Joe !

If he gets stuck with the whole bag, he can list the other nine on
ebay as NOS, GM, RARE, HARD-TO-FIND plugs and get $3.99 for each.
What a deal ! Sorry, just being cynical today.
