As I'm fairly new to this forum, is this the normal procedure when there are questions regarding the juding manual? For example, my heater motor has the proper date for my car but the source name is a little different. Can you stick the heater motor stamping info on this questionare also? If this is not the proper forum for this, please advise.

          Thanks

Took a look at my 70's owner manual to see what the override switch looked like in the pictures. The three pictures show a round cylinder type knob. I don't have this type of knob on my 70. What is on my 70 is the black style knob design on my 68. I know the knob on my 70 is the original although it is unlike what is in the pictures. To use the knob it is referred to in the 70's owner manual as the "overide switch contol". The 70's owner manual does not have the caution statement that leaving the switch in the on position will run down the battery.

I assume that the wiper override switch was left on in a lot of 68 Corvettes and ran the battery down which attributed to the "electrical ploblems" of the 68 model year.

Re: Please post your 68 configuration.

My 68 was born on Tuesday, July 16th, 1968. I do not have an override knob and never had one even when my car was delivered to me in August of 1968. The overrides are directly under the steering column and the wiper override is between the two vacuum overrides contrary to what is shown in the owners manual.

Mine was born 2 days later 7/18. Same config as yours. It's unrestored, but I have not owned it all the time.

                  Jim----

Your car was born on my 21st birthday. I remember that day very well. I was back on the east coast and they had a party for me at my aunt and uncle's house in Danvers, MA. I ate a ton of lobsters and steamed clams. It was, of course, the first day that I could legally drink, but I didn't drink anything that day.

Funny how things work. I was living in Rhode Island when I bought the car just outside of Narragansett, RI. Very close to Massachusetts.

                      Dick,

In what format will the questionaire be - direct mailing ? Driveline? Computer link? How will the results be published? I wasn't around in the mid 90's for the previous one, but this sounds like something I don't want to miss.

Dave, this is what we are working on, how to deliver the questionaire. First thoughts are probably Word format via email to those that have a computer, USPS to the others. More to come in the next couple of weeks. We have to be ready by April 5th to have it included in the next Driveline

Is there a way we 68 owners could suggest topics for the survey?? I have several areas of the judging manual that don't agree with my original car. I was actually thinking of taking the original part off and replacing it with a repro of the one called out in the judging manual to avoid point loss. Doesn't sound like something fostered by NCRS.

Anyway, I would be glad to provide input. I also vote for the electronic method where it can be done. I also was not around NCRS for the last survey.

Jim at this time we do not have the capability to do the survey on line. The best we can do is a Word document that you can fill in the blanks and e-mail back. Then of course for those that do not have internet capabitity we will have to mail them a copy.

NCRS has taken the first steps to upgrade the information technology that they are using, but I expect that we are quite a few months (years) away from being able to do an online survey

The issue of the Driveline that has gone to press will not have the info, but the one with the April 5th deadline will have the info.
