Hi, I need your help! I have purchased Ring & Pinion, new clutch plates, pinion and side gears (spider gears) from Randy's Ring & Pinion. I am using the 1953 - 1962 Corvette Servicing Guide book. I am looking on page 4-20 and looking at the section in the Fig. 39-Five Stack Plate Arrangement.
The section above in the 4-Stack plate arrangement they show the Belleville Plate (dished)positioned so that the concave side faces against the case (outside).
3 questions:
Is this safe to assume the same direction for the 5 stack? The thicker friction disk (with tabs)cave side would face towards the out side away from the center?
The guy at Randy's sugested theat I soak the friction disks in the posi additive before I assemble the friction disks to the stack. Does htis make sence?
What weight gear oil should I use on the final assembly?
