    R-134A+ (Plus) refrigerant--Follow-up

That stuff is good. I am 1/2 can low on the refrigerant in the system and I get consistent 47-50 degrees moving air registered on a vent thermometer. At long stops there is negligible variance.

I wouldn't get excited about 47-50 degree vent temps.

Now, Brian....we don't want 32 degree air, now do we? That would cause the coils to freeze and malfunction. Recall that I am still low on refrigerant so it will likely get down to the lower 40s.

      Thanks,
      Scott

If you had a 71 that currently doesn't have its AC hooked up, and after getting it reassembled and functioning you got 45-50 degree vent temps on an 85 degree day, you'd be excited.

Yeah!! I'm excited in that it blows cold air without the system being topped off. I reside in the D/FW area of Texas and it's 85 now. In July and August I don't drive my '70 although it's a convertible it also has a new black soft top. Yahootie!
And being a 454 the gas mileage is already bad enough without running the AC.

Scott you could improve your in city gas milage in your 70 with a very easy modification if it has the same equipment as my 70 (bought new in Dallas). First modification I did to my new 70 was not use the TCS solenoid. Used a vacuum line from the carb to the vacuum advance for full time vacuum. It made a difference in city mileage.
