    C2 1967 Carb 1850-1

    Dear Members,
Just got my carb back from being rebuilt and was curious about the front bowl. I want to keep the hard line from pump to carb, but it won't work with this carb. Can I put on the correct front bowl? I know the correct one has a thin rod with a vent hole and black rubber gasket on top. Will it bolt up, or will there be problems? I don't want to run a rubber fuel line to hook them up. I was also considering some brass fittings(90 degrees) to make it work from 1850-1 outlet on driver's side. Thanks!

Yes, the correct bowl will bolt right on. Not sure what you will do for a choke, withour one these Holleys are noted for backfiring and taking out the power valve, not a good thing.

      Bill,
Thanks for the response! I'll try and find one. I ran the same carb off my 65 hipo GT Fastback and never hooked up the manual choke under the dash, but it's usually warm year round in my area.

        Justin,

If you are looking for the correct primary bowl to fit your fuel line, look for one off a 3139-1, 3367, or 3140-1, they share the same holley part no. 34R5983A (there may be others) and have an externally adjustable float and sight hole like the 1850-1. A primary fuel bowl from a 3810, 3814, or 3918 will also work be they have non-adjustible floats and no sight hole and a different float valve than the 1850-1.

In either case, you would have to either have the rod and stopper mechanism for the vent hole, or you can get a plug for the vent hole in the top of the bowl.

Attached is a picture of a 3810 and a 3139-1 to show the difference in the fuel bowls:

The 3810 is on the left, and the 3139-1 (which is nearly identical to a 3367 for a 66 Corvette 327) is on the right. Both have the same remote choke on the other side.

I haven't put any of these bowls on an 1850-1, but they look like they will work.

        See you at Golden Gate.
