Distributor I.D. tag

I have a chance to buy a distributor I. D. tag for a 62 corvette..It reads 1110985 4M7 Delco Remy..Can someone tell me what the 4M7 stands for? My corvette is a 1962, built around August 8th 1961..I need to know if this would work..If not, can anybody tell me what the date code is supposed to be for mine? Also, is there any place that reproduces them?

It's a date code and it decodes to December (M) 7, 1964. It could also be 1974 or 1984 as this, particular, distributor was in production for that long. It was widely sold over-the-counter for many years from 1962 on until the early 90s when Delco-Remy stopped manufacturing all Corvette-type distributors and parts therefore.

I think I bought mine from Paragon, or was it chicago corvette?
