Trunk lid sags about 8 inches after it reaches the upper travel limit. How can it be adjusted? The old girl is supposed to have her first PV in Gonzales, LA in April. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: 1959 trunk lid sags
Put a spacer under the spring. You can use a hose clamp or make a split spacer.
To put the spacer in work a vise grip plier under the spring with the lid in a full raised position. Adjust the pliers to a tight grip on the spring adjustment bolt. Now pull the trunk lid down as far as you can against your arm and close the pliers. Raise the lid and the pliers will hold the spring up so you can put the spacer in place. Make sure you have the pliers tight or you could end up with a mashed finger. Good Luck, Jimmy- Top
