    Dennis,

And that's why I said "Don't take this personally" I'm not throwing rocks at anyone.

It just seems that sometimes we get so far away from the mission. I feel that it is more of an art of try to exactly copy someones work than it is to go and freewheel thru a restoration.

Carefully taking apart a Corvette and trying to copy the assembly process is the most challenging part of restoration. In my opinion anyway! And everybody has at least one!

And furthermore it's good for Roy to be awakened every 10 years.

    Regards,

    JR

Heck, the weight of the chrome on a 57 Caddy has to be about the same as the weight of an average car of today.

I'm not spooled up , I don't think I'm or may be I'm or?? OK
It's impossible while restoring any car not to over restore and I understand that, it's human nature. Many things on my 55 were over restored I'll admit. My bumpers for one are fantastic compared to the original factory chroming. But most other parts were NOS, and not up to the quality that a restored item would be. Being that I drive my 55 and I mean drive it , it's looking more and more like a survivor Corvette would look. I keep an inventory of original used and NOS parts that I can draw from to keep it original because of all the driving I do.
I was just trying to say that as fewer and fewer original and NOS parts are left, more and more repro. parts find there way on many Corvettes. I know I've poop poo some trailer queens because I think they should be driven, BUT think about this those trailer queen may in the near future be the only REAL ORIGINAL Corvettes left, as more Corvettes are being Modified or a high % made of repro parts.
The guys that spend $100,000 or more making a queen Corvette will never again see the open road. Once or twice a year dusted off to show or lost to a museum. When us old geezers still driving original Corvettes are dead, our vettes will go the same way most modle T or A's did.

Anyone know how the repo pre-61 grill teeth and bar look? Or should I have my originals chromed? Paragon sells a grill assembly for $290.00, which would probably be cheaper than a re-chrome.

triple chrome or show chrome is.......
            copper, nickel, chrome
the copper is what is expensive is what makes the difference
in cheaper chrome plating or levels in plating.

              Chrome

Do Paragon grill repros have better chrome than the GM repros?? I'm curious as well.
