    67 window handles

Has anyone remove the knob from the window crank handle? Is it press fitted on. I tried to punch out but won't budge. I need to replace all the knobs.

If you are working with an original handle/knob assembly, I believe that there is just a "peened over" shaft that retains the knob to the handle. You could probably just drill it out from the rear. The knob will be sacrificed, though. I don't know of any way to remove the knob from the handle and have the knob remain serviceable, although you MAY be able to carefully drill and tap the shaft for a screw to replace the "peened over" knob retention method. I don't think that such a repair would be too reliable and durable, though.

If you have a lter service replacement handle, the knob retention method is different. But, if you have one of those, I don't know why you'd be trying to save it. As you probably know, original 1967 window crank handles used a knob which was color-keyed to the interior color. 1968 was the only other year that used this, but the 67 and 68 handles are slightly different.

I have removed the 67 window crank knobs by the drill method. They then can be tapped and screwed backon to another handle. You can then take even more time and dress up the screw to appear as a peaned over rivet head. don't forget the threadlock (locktite, red).

Are the 66 and 67 vent window cranks the same? (except for the metal vs. plastic handle part)

          Brandon,

Yes. At least the two originals I have to compare are like you say, identical except for the knob. The number on the back of the vent regulator handle for 1966 and 1967 is the same, 5719481. The 66 AIM and 67 AIM each show a different number for the vent regulator handle ASSEMBLY, 4468653 for 1966 and 7680651 for 1967. Additionally, the only window regulator handle I have is for 1967 and the number on the back of it is 5719477. The window regulator handle ASSEMBLY for 1967 is 7680653, according to the 67 AIM. Thanks, Tom. So I guess we can correctly assume that they do LOOK the same? I've been meaning to compare, but keep forgetting.
