    1966 windshield washer pump

    The windshield washer pump is inoperative. I bought a $21 repair kit which included a washer and a rubber-like bell-shaped diaphragm. Problem is old diaphram will not come out despite vigorous tugging and twisting. Any ideas?

      Corvette Central rebuilt mine for $75 and it turned out great. I don't know if it was a quicker than average turnaround, but I got it back in 2 weeks. I sent it in rather than trying to rebuild it myself because it was completely shot. I have been warned of what might happen if I sent stuff to some of these companies, but I went ahead and did it anyway and it was fine...

          I call it the JR thumb method, just a push with the thumb and a 90 degree turn.
          There is a few other posts with pictures on the washer pump and valve in early October, 2004 in the archives. Just do a search under "washer pump".
