    66 dash instruments removal

What is the proceedure to remove the instrument panel on a 66 Corvette? What do you remove and in what order? What needs to be removed to remove the speedo and tach cables?

    Ken,
Search the archives for lots of good tips. Search "cluster removal" also.
There is also a link to the Adirondak chapter's article for a detailed step by step removal. If you can't find it email me your fax number and I'll fax it to you. Also John Hinkley wrote some articles in Corvette Enthusiast.

But briefly you'll need to remove the steering column, odom reset cable,e brake bracket, vent cable mounting, headlight sw,ww switch, ign sw and oil gauge line. The trick to the tach and speedo cable is to pull (gently) the gauge cluster back an inch or two then you will be able to reach up and unscrew the threaded collars.

Some think it is also easier to remove the seat because on reinstallation you be spending some time on your back. Good luck

    Randy
