The bidders who got outbid all seem to have a good history with the exception of the newbie who showed up at about 4K, and with on purchases it's hard to assess either way.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Worth and what one (or two) people are willing to pay may be two different things. The caps were available thru GM for a long time after the wheels were gone, and the repro wheels are AWFUL, so I'd go back to the question discussed here on occasion "how much is a point worth"Bill Clupper #618- Top

how AWFUL is awful?
Bill,
I have the original ralley wheels on my 67 coupe and they DON'T do the car justice! The car is way too good looking for those wheels. A 68 or newer they look fine, but not mid years. I was contemplating a set of repros from Virginia Vettes, but you say no? Is the tooling bad? Do they look too far from originals. I have an opportunity to buy some original bolt-ons for $4000.00 minus the caps-what do you think?
*call Armond, his 63 took a front end hit

Re: how AWFUL is awful?
The repro's are made with the same basic tooling as the knockoffs. the originals were made on different tooling with much thinner "spokes" or "fins" from the center to the outside. The contrast between the wider fins on the repros and the thin fins on the caps is dramatic, enough to see about 50 feet away. In addition they still have the other problems of the K/O repros, but at least the fins are the correct width for the knockoffs.Bill Clupper #618- Top
