    62 tail light cones

Both the AIM and the JG indicate that these just press on and have no fasteners. Mine press on (wires carefully in the bottom notch) and then when released launch themselves the length of the trunk. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks John

    John, One method is to...

...put them on using a helper, two each, quickly remove hands and then slam the trunk lid real fast. That way you can pretend they stayed in place. It just seems, since the cones themselves were somewhat of an afterthought, one year Corvette use only, nobody ever really cared if they stayed in place. I've had the best luck fooling with the wires - a lot of fooling with the wires. In one case I carved a little more clearance for the wires on the edge of the cone. However, usually I just carry them around in the trunk and put them on for judging only and hope they stay long enough for that. Too bad a little pal nut couldn't be used to retain them...

A dummie asking but would not a little dum-dum hold them on Dipstick? Always had 61's so I am asking.

Too permament. Would destroy cone if you had to remove it. What 'bout silicone?

I'll take the middle road of Dennis and the Appalachian youngster. I timmed my tailcone notches a little more AND used a dab of strip caulk in the cone holes. So far, so good....El Dicko

I use dum dum on mine. Works on 3 out of the 4.
