Re: Barret Jackson Corvette sales.
I was more amazed at the prices other makes were bringing. I don't remember specifics of any one car, but any muscle car, any convertible, any and all Shelby's and Cobras, and many others were selling at prices WAY over "book". Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: Barret Jackson Corvette sales.
Chuck,
I was amazed at the prices the '55-'58 Chevy convertibles were bringing. I saw a nice restored '56 sell for mid $70s. Are these people nuts! I guess we are back to the days when people have more money than brains. Are these the same people that drove the big block Corvette market out of sight in the late 80s? Maybe this will drive the value up on our 69 big blocks. I guess it really doen't matter since I am not selling mine and your wife would probably divorce you if you tried to sell hers.

Re: Barret Jackson Corvette sales.
I know. a 427 Cobra went for $300K + another one went for $200K+ a 63 T-bird went foe around $70K. Can't believe that ugly car went for that! A nice FI 57 Nomad went for +$60K. I saw a mid 50's eldorado go for $53K only to find out later as I watched the same car roll across the block again that the guy was bidding on the Cord that was behind it! Talk about stupidity. Not only that, the Cord only sold for $40K and the Caddy didn't sell for $53K the second time through. I would be a little upset if I was the one selling the Caddy! Eric- Top

Re: Barret Jackson Corvette sales.
Actually the '56 Chevy convert sold for $82k (plus 6% premium to the auction company). Unbelievable!!
I was very interested in this one because I paid $2600 for a slightly-used one just like it (same dual 4-bbl 225hp engine, but I didn't have a continental kit) in 1956 that I drove through college to 1962. And all the while the narrators assured us that the buyers this year were very discriminating car enthusiasts, not the investment speculators of the 80's!
How about the lady from Toronto who paid about a half-mill for 2 Buggatis; she said she was just a car enthuiast there for the ambience and didn't intend to buy anything when she came.- Top
