C - 3 Tire Dates

Can anyone tell me how to read tire date codes? Goodyear GR-70 15

Please help!!!

On the back sidewall near the bead you will find a molded "box" containing three digits. The first two digits represent the week of production and the third digit represents the last digit of the calendar year.

Example: 044 means 4th week of 1974 for a Goodyear Steelgard tire.

The three numbers Don refers to are the last 3 of the 11 space alpha/numeric code embossed on the tire. The code with 11 alpha/numeric spaces began in January of 1971. Earlier tires have an 8 or 9 space alpha/numeric code and are much more difficult to decode.

MK=GOODYEAR-Union City, TN plant
MB=GOODYEAR-Akron,Ohio plant #2
U5= GR70-15
FMH= type & construction
000= last three digits mean,first two-week,last year. example 327 is as follows 32=week, 7=1977

Bizzoco's 1969 Corvette guidebook

His book has about 4 pages with pictures explaining the 1969, 1970-71, and 1971 on coding systems. Great reference for the 1969 owner. I bought mine years ago from Crane's Corvettes at www.cranescorvette.com but I think yoou can also buy it from Zip and the other suppliers.
