On a 1966 with the P92 "Whitewall" tire option, what size was the whitewall? (3/4", 7/8", 1"?) If someone knows the sizes for all the different years please list. (1963-1967) Thanks

Re: C2Tires: Whitewall size? Duke...
Ken,
The whitewall width on 1963/1964 cars is 1 inch per the judging manual. 1965 whitewall width is 1 inch, goldwall width is 3/8 inch per the judging manual. I don't have the judging manuals for 1966 and 1967 cars handy so I can't quote what the judging manual says for those years, but I would bet it is also 1 inch for whitewalls.

As stated, the whitewall width for each year should be in the applicable AIM. Personally, I prefer blackwalls.
I never saw a Ferrari or Jag or Porsche with whitewalls back in the fifties and sixties, so I figured that real sports cars should have blackwalls.

Re: C2Tires: Whitewall size? Duke...
I've often wondered about the actual width of the 65-66 gold stripe. It seems the reproduction is too wide at 3/8", especially when compared to an original. If I remember correctly, there was an article in a 65 or 66 "Corvette News" about the new goldline tire option that gave a dimension of 11/32". Seems most reproductions are even wider than their advertised 3/8".- Top
