    Holley 2818-1 date of manufacture...

My '65 FI car had a Holley 2818-1 on it. I've talked to or had written correspondence with owners dating back to both before and after the original FI unit was replaced with carburetion. Memories and facts I've been told are inconsistent and conflicting. I'm thinking if I could determine the date of manufacture of the carburetor on the car, this might more confidently narrow down the owner that commissioned the FI removal & replacement.

Airhorn has stamping showing 3849804, LIST-2818-1, 1264. The 1264 date code doesn't match the datecode format in my '65 Judging guide. Can anyone tell me how to decipher this date code?

Also, car had an Edelbrock intake manifold with C4B beneath the Edelbrock logo. A quick scan didn't show any other markings, although if anyone knows what I might look for, let me know. Anyone tell me whether C4B narrows down a construction date or vintage of manifold.

    Thanks.

4 digit date code for Holleys of that era indicate a service replacement carb, that'd be the 126th day of 1964, 1974, etc.

C4B Edelbrock was a Mid-late 60's edelbrock available thru the 70's and later. Not a lot different than the factory 350-365 hp manifold.

More likely 1974, and could be 1984. They used the 3 digit code, I believe, to 1972.

Also, slotted fuel bowl screws and slotted

choke plate and throttle plate screws would indicate a 1974 replacement. Hex head fuel bowl screws and phillips head choke plate and throttle plate screws would indicate a 1984, and possibly a 1994(if they made them that late) replacement.

The way they date coded these Holleys, they probably didn't expect them to last 10 years!
