    67 Stinger Hood Paint Dimensions

I'm going to be painting before too long and would like to verify a couple of dimensions on the stinger stripe. I have the outer thin stripe width of 0.12 (1/8") and a gap of 0.31 (5/16") separating it from the bold stripe. But does anyone here have information they can share about how far up the stiniger does the thin stripe start, and is that distance constant? I've seen stripes painted incorrectly where they have the thin stripe right on the lip of the stinger and it simply looks terrible. I'd like to thank anyone who responds in advace!

I just went thru this. The AIM dimensions are incorrect... at least my interpretation... in the area of how long the stinger is in front of the hood. I have photos of what appeared to be an original stinger that I can send. I also have a photo of how I placed my stinger based on the Chevrolet Brochure cover. Just e-mail me.

Long Island Corvette Supply sells a "67 Hood Stripe Painting Stencil", catalog part number 2-17a. I cannot say how "correct" it is, but it might be worth looking into.

The LI stencil I purchased several years ago was of made of heavy construction paper and was of such poor quality that my painter would not use it. Use a fine line type tape and follow the AIM dimensions and all should be ok. More info on this topic can be found in the archives.
