    c1 carburetor return spring

my 57 manual shows spring hooking to thermostat housing bolt for single four barrel, yet I have seen many pictures where the spring attaches to the oil fill tube, which is right, or is this a early /late addition 57 thing if it has to attach to the housing does it just hook under the bolt, my thero. housing has no hook or anything thanks

You can purchase a small bracket to go under the left bolt of the thermo housing to attach the spring. I did this but I am still using the bracket on the filler tube as the supposly correct spring is too long for the new barcket and OK for the one attached to the iol filler tube. I am doing other things and will come back later to this issue. Good luck on yours.

Had brain fade. I forgot that my carb linkage might not be correct. Therefore the spring length might not be at fault. If your is correct then things might work out fine.

The spring anchored to a stamped bracket secured under the outboard thermostat housing bolt; the bracket was installed at Flint Engine, so there's no part callout for it in the A.I.M. Paragon has them.
