66 Radiator Grille

I am restoring my 66 coupe and while cleaning the grille I noticed the chrome pitting. Can this grille be replated? I understand that the grille is still available from GM but I don't think it will pass for original, anyone know for sure?

--------Your 66 grille is one big piece of pot-metal thats been chrome plated. It would be very expensive to plate it. Im sure you can find an NOS one on E-bay or thru one of the major parts suppliers for far less than it would cost to correctly plate an original pot-metal grille..........Bill S

I also have a 66 i am restoring. Last friday I took delivery of my new grille from Chevrolet parts dept. This part looks and is made of the same materail. It does not have the brackets. My original grille was in such poor condition there was no way torepair it. The original was corroded by the salty night air in southern California. I have not seen the emblems or hood grilles I ordered yet to know the quality of the part.
