    Re: distributer caps 305-308

I assume you mean the Delco short number reference D-305 and D-308. The "305" is GM # 1917247, and is for '55-'57 V8's, and '58-'61 w/dual 4bbl carbs, H/Per Corvettes. The NOS example I have has NO Delco Remy Patent script around the towers, but has the small Delco Remy logo - made in USA, on the underside. It also has aluminum contacts. It's only 3" high (vs. 3-13/16" for the D-308), has no points adjust window, and is held in place with 2 hinged snap-springs. There's a few other passenger car uses in the '55-'57 period.

The D-308 is the usual one that all C2's sport, with the script present (no sideways "R"). I have seen a D-308 under GM #s 1932018, other very similar caps: D-309 / 1942654; D-308R / 1971244; D-309 / 800061; D-309R / 800061. As these caps are judged by appearance, and not the Delco box printing, it's a real crap-shoot buying one with the string un-pulled.
