C2 Engine silver Overspray

Can someone tell me if the black shielding brackets were installed at the time the silver spray was done along the manifold edges. Should the brackets have some silver spray on them. Mike

Mike,

Bill has it exactly right. The brackets were installed at the St. louis plant so they would be semi flat black without orange overspray. This would also be the case for any items that were installed at the St.Louis plant because the engines were painted before they were shipped from Flint/Tonawanda. If you have an assembly manual, look for the list of items/part numbers that were to be installed at St. Louis. None would have been painted orange.

Previous post should have stated "silver", not orange, although it applies to the orange also.
