68 frame and 69 frame are the same ?

Hi

i would like to know if a 68 frame and a 69 frame are 100% exactely the same ?

could i use a 68 frame on my 69 vette ?

The front extensions on the frame are unique on the '68 due to the radiator core support being unique for '68.

1969 frames use extra gusseting for strength that 1968 frames do not have.

The only other difference I am aware of is that the front spindles on '68's are smaller in diameter than '69 - 82's

99% of a 68 frame (depending on production numbers) is identical to a 69 frame.

The gusset bracing that Warren is referring to (I think) is the diagnal braces welded from the lower crossmember (with differential bracket) up to the kickups to eliminate flexing.

These two braces were on all 69 frames and later but DID also appear on later production 68 frames.

My original frame had these braces #21831 but my donor frame #3000 did not.

Other than that, the front frame extensions as pointed out by Dave is the most significant and critical difference.

Chuck, My 68 has the braces and thats about the only part that doesn't have huge rust holes in it. The donor frame I bought needs to have them welded in. If I understand correctly the lower edge of the front horns are slightly longer and have the hole to mount the Rad support. 69 and up are cut off at a sharp angle because the rad support mounts different. There was a 68 body on E-bay last week and the picture showed a 1968 rad support with a 69 frame.
