    7 blade cooling fan identification

I got my fan out, and took some pictures.
    Can anyone identify this fan?
    Could it be GM 3853943?
Is it maybe from a late '60s or early '70's vintage replacement?
    My car is a 1967 427/390hp (L36) with A/C (C60), and a 3:36 rear end.
I thought this was the original fan, but it's possible it was replaced by one of the previous owners.

The link seems to work, but the image doesn't seem to appear.
I posted it on a Yahoo my-pictures area.
Click on the link to see the pictures.
I'll see if I can figure something out.

David - I have been pretty close to many of the 5 blade fans, but can't honestly say the I have seen a for real 7 blade fan. But from what I have heard and read, the 7 blade fan has a slighly turned up tip on the blades, this one looks like a corner cut from the picture. From confusion before I know the truth, I thought my 67 327/350 with AC needed a 7 blade fan...and purchased the Paragon repro fan they sell.....which may be the correct design 7 blade fan you reference. It does not look like this, and does have bent tip blades. Having said that, I finally found the correct 5 blade 18" fan....Craig

David - What is the diameter of the fan blade assembly? Also, are there any numbers or other identifying marks on the blades or the support? Pete

I believe it to be 18" diameter, but there is some margin of error when measuring.
It could be 17", and although I've never heard of them, it could be 19".
The blades all seem to have "H C60E-G" stamped on them.
The yahoo photo album has several hi-res close-up shots.

Fomoco stamped in this part? Photo number 6 of 8, Fomoco inside an oval. As in blue oval, as in Fomoco or Ford Motor Company.

                    Throw it away -- quickly

David -- Dan has spotted the FoMoCo stamp. Other indications: Should be no stampings on the blades. Difficult to capture the angles of the blade tips with a single photo, but the GM dwg in Noland's Vol2 pg.218 gives a good idea, although it under-represents the shorter bevel on the trailing edge of the tip. Once you find the blade assy. that you think is 3853943, measure the flat at the circumference -- it should only be 0.55" (14mm) wide, not counting the radii). The one I have MAY be off a '64, because of the round-head rivets [however, I've never seen a correct '65 7-blade with flat rivets yet], and mine has only the "H" on the front (no other stampings anywhere).

I have one or more detailed pics of a beautiful '65 L76/C60, showing the fan, taken in 2004 at NCRS N.W. Regional (Seaside OR), that I could email you. Would post here but I don't have a host site.

Re: Throw it away -- quickly

                      I wondered what that was.
It looked suspiciously like the Ford oval.
I was hoping it was some unknown to me supplier of chevy parts.
(I've never heard of FoMoCo, and couldn't make out the letters)
No wonder no one on any of the Corvette Boards recognized the part.
Now why would anyone put a Ford part on a Corvette?
This must have happened prior to 1974 or so.
                      I'll order a 5-blade replacement immediately.
Truth be known, I've never had an overheating problem with this fan.
And I live in Florida, and drive it in the summer.
                      Thanks for the heads up.

with that fan you could just rev the engine

in neutral and it would pull your corvette along with out it being in gear.
