I am looking for a NCRS correct 2818 for my 65 L76. The engine stamp is F0518HK and the car build date is K23. Should the carburetor be dated before the engine date stamp or after? Should it be closer to the car build date or to the engine stamp? Where can I find a correct 2818? Thanks

Re: C2 2818 Question
Carb was installed at the St Lpuis car build and thus has no relationship to engine dates. it has to precede the car final assembly date by a week or more to allow for shiping to St Louis.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: C2 2818 Question
John: Beware of the 2818's on EBay, unless being sold by a reputable restorer.
Most are incomplete pieces of junk. Even so, they still bring $200-$300, but that's the auction mentality for you.
Familiarize yourself with what a period-correct 2818 looks like, and know what the metering block numbers should be. Ask about the throttle plate screws to see if they've been replaced. Then you'll have at least a chance, if you buy an EBay special. You'll still have to put a kit into it and probably change the jets, too.
Jerry B. has opined that ALL Corvette carbs being offered on EBAy are junk. I think he has a point there.
For a restored, correct 2818 --expect to pay close to $600.- Top
