    How many are still alive?

I am curious about the actual number of vintage Corvettes that are still around.
Has anyone or any orgaization ever investigated the number of Corvettes that are still intact and running? Example...1965 approximately 23,000 produced...how many still alive?

I believe that Bob Demmell told be that NCRS has a data base containing all of the Regional and National award winners (Flight, Per Eval, Duntov, Bow Tie ect.)

    Almost impossible to say....

MANY Corvettes have been exported to various countries around the world and no longer remain in our 50-State data base.

It may be quite a surprise to a lot of people if the actual numbers were known. A somewhat similar situation exists with GMC Motorhomes. Built from 1973 through 1978. Less than 12,000 rolled of the line at GMs truck plant. We have over 6,000 in the central registry and continually find more. Est. 8,000 still around. BTW those motorhomes were ALL GM right down to the wooden drawers in the interior. If you're interested I hide mine at http://www.richies.net .

GMCMH owners make a particular effort to find and register any MHs they see.
In the case of Corvettes we all are aware of cars in various states of repair that are not in any registry thus suggesting the numbers of existing Corvettes still alive might be staggering.

If you scroll down the page there's a guy named Ralph that wants to start a registry. Maybe you can be first on his list.

Seriously, there well are over 1 million Corvettes, and counting. There's 15K members of NCRS and only a small fraction of these members ever have their car(s) judged and the details recorded. Bet you the total number is less than 1/2 of 1%. Even if a car was judged recently, who is to say where it is today?

Re: Look Another History Post !

Wouldn't it be nice if NCRS did have a database to help all of us hobbyist track these cars. We see over and over and over again someone asking for history information for their car.
I just can not believe the NCRS does not all ready have such information.

As for staring a registry, I am not the NCRS, maybe they can help. If they won't maybe I should start a Corvette registry. Mike thanks for the advice.

My pleasure. I think I heard that Pasta, Corelli and McHale want to help. Maybe Kenny too.

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey...what are we to do? You better be careful. First you volunteer me, now you are volunteering the boys from the "other" board.
Do you really think they would have any idea of how to start a registry.

                          They're only as good as

the quantity and quality of the data therein.

Don't forget, research indicates that 64% of statistics are made up on the spot, but only 17% of people know that.

My research shows that 23% of the 17% add 9 % (plus or minus 2%) to the combined total percent.
