i'm looking for a master cylinder gasket and retaining ring/clip for a 74 vette with power brakes. it's the gasket and retainer that sits in the throat of the master cylinder not the one for the lid. the old GM part numbers are 730392 for the gasket and 9787620 for the retainer ring. can anyone tell me if these numbers are still good or where i could possibly get these? i've tried my local chevy dealer and most of the popular vette parts catalogs but nobody seems to be able to get these.

Gasket GM #730392 was discontinued in October, 1992. Retaining ring GM #9787620 was discontinued in February, 1993. As far as I know, neither are reproduced or otherwise available.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

you seem to know an extraordinary amount about this stuff. do you know how one completes a master cylinder change out without the new parts?

I'm afraid that all I could suggest is to try to reuse the old parts. For the gasket, you may be able to make one using the old one as a pattern.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment
