Does anyone know where to find the correct tape used on the vacuum system and heater hoses. I tried doc rebuild for it and also the correct heater hoses for my 69 350 hp w/ air and they do not have either of them.

Re: Correct vacuum hose tape 69 and heater hoses
I have a late '68 and what remains of the vacuum hose tape looks a lot like strapping tape, but it's deteriorated to the point where I can't determine for sure what it was like when new. I am far from any sort of a parts expert, but I have not seen this tape listed in any catalog.

Re: Correct vacuum hose tape 69 and heater hoses
Go to your friendly office supply store and purchase a roll of 3M packaging tape. I think that the only width it comes in is 3/4". You will have to split the tape to the width of the original (for the life of me I cannot remember the width 1/2" I think). Works and looks like the originalDick Whittington- Top

Re: Correct vacuum hose tape 69 and heater hoses
The tape is used on the vacuum filter and the check valve to keep them from coming apart if the engine backfires. They are secured with the tape done in a criss-cross directiong (like a X). Look for pictures of original 68-72 cars and you will see this tape. If you make Rock Hill, remind me and I will show you. There should be a very original 69 there to look at.Dick Whittington- Top
