It's time to order spark plug wires for the 67 restoration. 427/435 Coupe, VIN:15629. This is a no radio car. Am I correct in believing no braiding is correct for this car? Would the wires be dated and if so does anyone know what date would be correct? Lastly, I know plug wires are offered by many suppliers but who can provide "correct" wires? Thanks as always.

Re: 67 spark plug wires.
Rick----
As far as I know, if your car was originally not equipped with a radio, it should not have the shielded ignition wires. Also, as far as I know, the wires were "dated". The "date code" consisted of the calender year quarter that the wires were manufactured(e.g. "1Q67" or "2Q67", etc). The correct "date code" should obviously predate the build of your car, but not all date codes are available in reproduction wires. There are only 2 "quarters" which the wires are "dated" per calender year. So, yoiu simply select the available "quarter" and year which "fits" your car's build.
As far as "dated" reproduction wires are concerned, I am only aware of two sources: Lectric Limited of Chicagoland and M&H Electrical Fabricators of Santa Fe Springs, CA. There may be others, though. Wire sets are also available through GM/Delco, although the exact original configuration/date codes will not. If it were my car, though, these are the only wires that I would want on it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
