    Big Block valve covers

Is there any difference between 396 and 427 valve covers?

There exist MANY different configuration big block valve covers, depending on year model, etc. Basically, all big block, Mark IV valve covers will fit on all big block, Mark IV cylinder heads. But, there are subtle or not-so-subtle configuration differences with respect to "indentions", spark plug wire loom brackets, interior "drippers, external finish, etc. Also, bear in mind that not all big blocks were installed in Corvettes, so there are big block covers which were specific to particular non-Corvette applications.

If you are asking about the difference between 1965 L-78 396 and 1966 L-72 427, the covers are essentially the same for both years, with the exception, I believe, of A/C-equipped cars built during a certain overlapping portion of the 65-66 model years.
