#@&?!$G C1 Wiper transmission cables

I rebuilt the transmissions and they lock and release fine. Everything seems right until I run the moter. The left side top cable pops off. It goes on the 3rd groove from the fire wall down. The other cable from that side goes to the second groove. The other side works ok. Has anybody had this problem? Why would that cable keep poping off?

It helps if you don't have the main spool 180 out.

The pulley under the moter. The right side will somehow work, not the left.

For what it's worth, there are fairly good instructions on how to reinstall these in Nolands book at the end of the '56 and '57 section. Found it there by mistake one day and it helps make sure that you are going about it correctly.

Are you talking about Noland's "The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide 53-62"? If this is the correct book, I can't seem to locate the instructions either! Maybe I'm going blind! What page is it on?

The rotation is from home position all one direction and then back. Make sure the top cable from the drivers side goes in the 3rd groove down from the firewall. It must wrap 3/4 around the drum (not 1/4) because the drum rotates unwinding that cable. It is shown in the excellent document below very clearly.
It still didn't stop me from doing it wrong. I made the assumption that if the cables fit it would work.

Brad, yes to the book you refered to. I am at work right now and can't tell you the page number, but it is at the very back of the '56 and '57 section. The page just before you go to the '58 through 60 section. I know that it is on the left side as the book is open and there is a picture of a '6 '7 on the page. I will check tonight and let you know if you still need it.
