    C2 Rocker Mouldings

The light at the end of the tunnel is pretty bright after 5 years on my 66 roadster body off. Now installing the new rocker mouldings. Have the new mounting strips on but am having difficulty getting the mouldings over the strips. Anyone have any suggestions to help with this?

    Regards,

    Dave,

A common problem with the factory rockers! You can do two things. One is to bend the tabs on the rockers and the other is to place a washer between the strip and the clips along the length of the rocker. I use the washer method and it works fine.

        Dave,

Do the rocker panels fit easily over/below the nylon nut/inserts that push through the rocker molding support brackets? If you are having trouble getting rocker panels on, one problem that I found was that IF you are using the current reproduction nylon nut/inserts (14 per side) and not the originals is that the heads on the reproductions are about 1-1/2 times thicker that the originals. Using an old original one as a guide, I took a file to the heads and removed enough material until it matched the thickness of the original. There are 14 per side and it will take you about an hour to do this. Once I did this the rocker panels went on fine.

        Best Regards,

            JR,

What size washers did you use-- 1/4 in, 5/16,, 3/8, etc.?

                Dave,

They were 1/4" but the thickness is what you need to space the strip out so the edge of the rocker will catch. The thickness of the ones I used were 0.060".

That should do the job for you.

                Regards,

                JR
