Good to know. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but I just loved watching the auction on cable last night. What a blast!

You haven't missed much, it's more like a cartoon for adults. They make you pay to enter the bidding ring, they let you drink booze, if you bid you get your 15 seconds of fame on TV, if your real lucky someone else with more money than brains outbids you, so they can be on TV for a few more seconds and Barrett/Jackson gets paid by both the buyer and seller. Truly a Hollywood production.

Sadly, John Doe in Littletown USA watches, thinks WOW, puts his original Corvette up for sale and can't understand why no one wants to pay that outragous price for it, after all the ones on TV sold for that much.
Just my 2 cents, but it would be real interesting if they did a follow up show in a couple of years to see where those cars are and what they are doing. In my opinion the only place these cars will be sold again is at another B/J auction in a few years. Sort of like a reality show, fun to watch but not very real!

It was a 327/350 black on black 4 speed with AM/FM, Gold lines, and knock offs. For that kind of money, I hope the knock offs were originals!

Here is the description on the 65. Looks like a very well optioned car with AM/FM, 4 speed, leather, knock offs, A/C, PS, PB, side exhaust, gold lines. Doesn't state if the knock off's are originals, so I would have to assume they are repros. I'm sure the A/C helped the value. Looks like a very nice car, but I still can't see the $70K.

                        Re: But the low horseys...

I've posted this answer before but worth mentioning it again.
I never try to sell a Corvette to a Corvette person and have sold three Corvettes at Auctions
WHY! just because of the comments here, now don't take this in the wrong way. BUT selling to a real Corvette person can drive you to drink.
People at Auctions buy what they see, wont and like , you know like going to a car dealer. They don't ask if the bolt holding the tail pipe bracket is a TR original bolt.
I've sold Corvettes at Auction that by NCRS standers would never get third flight , but would bring more money that some people think their Corvette NCRS top flights is worth.
If and when I decide to sell my 55 or 67 or 60 and others , I would never think to sell them to a NCRS member.

Sorry guys! that's the real world of the hobby.

for what it's worth, guys i have been in the T.B.horse bus. all my life,it
was my father's hobby, meaning i have been to a few auctions. At keeneland in
KY.many days their gross for one day is bigger than Barrett-jackson for there
week,if keeneland tryed to charge a person to bid,or tryed to charge consigner
and buyer a percentage they would be none quickly, much less charging to get in.People must be outta their minds to go for that.Just my way of looking
                            at it.

Scott - I think we're talking about 2 different cars here - the one Tony asked about was a white '64 convert. It looked stock; B-J site says it was a frame-on resto. They did both go for 45K, though. To me, the vert seemed like a deal and the custom over-priced; but without being there...?
