Replace cable service with DSL, and you have my system. Cable would be a little faster, but most times I doubt I could tell the difference. When I am on the road the dial-up is slooow though.

No wonder I am falling asleep when I use my pc. I have BT dial up and the test showed: 1 mbfile download 5 min., communications 27.8 kbsec, storage 3.4 kbsec. I tried to get BroadBand but it is not compatible with my windows 95 operating system. I guess my old 98 GATEWAY 2000 is on its last legs.

Careful now Dipstick, ya gonna tell yer age. And then the first computer I had did not have a hard drive, just two floppies. Blazing speed with 64 K of ram. CPM operating system and you had to write your own programs.. The modem ran at a blazing speed of something under 100k. Computer made by Kaypro and was one of the first "portables" weighing in at 27#. We've come a long ways baby.

I really think that they were lugables. Keyboard was in the front that you removed. If my memory serves me they were about 6"X 18"X 18". I donated that to the scrap heap probably 15 years ago along with the modem that you put you telephone handset into.

                      Jack,
I don't know what a PDP-8 is but do remember using a teletype with the punched paper tape. We always reffered to it as carraige return, letters, letters. And you would forget at least once a shift to not let out enough tape to get thru the reader!!! What a hoot.

                      Regards,
                      Rick
P.S. The master cylinder cap looks great. Thanks again

Dick, the first computer I ever worked with was an IBM 360. It took up half the room and had disks the size of LP records and drives as big as a washing machine. Data was input via punch cards.Ah, the good old, old days!

                          like they used to.
