I don't know how often they show up for 1971 LS-5, but the Carter-manufactured QuadraJets began appearing for PRODUCTION and SERVICE about 1967. Generally, I think that there were more of them during the 70-71 period when 4 barrel carburetor usage was about at its peak and, likely, the Rochester Carburetor plants in Rochester, NY couldn't keep up with demand. Either one would be correct for your car as long as the carb number and dates are consistent.

Besides Carter, Rochester Q-Jets were also manufactured by Weber Carburetor.

I dont' know about Weber, but I believe Solex manufactured, under license, the Q-jet clone that was installed on the Mercedes 2.8L DOHC inline six in the seventies.

They are devilishly expensive to replace!
