Bob-If you go to a website at www.alleyguide.com and go into the value guide section you will find current values on Hot Wheels from 68 to the present.A straight white enamel 68 Camaro,no flashy markings or Candy is worth $5,000!I bought many of the original 68's for my little brother back then i guess for the 50 cents they cost back then i should have bought a few cases for myself!Recently an unopened case of 1972 Hot Wheels was opened by a bidder who paid several thousand just to be able to pick one car from the case! The rest were charity auctioned. This story is on this same website.I'll put a link on the bottom of this message. $5000.00 for a Hot Wheels!?!? Man, it's outta control! But, I guess whatever floats your boat. Though, I gotta say, I do enjoy going in the store with my 15 mo. old son and grabbing a handful now and then! Now, if I can only convince my wife they're really for HIM!.....I'll check out that website...thanks.

It is proof positive that nothing old in the Corvette world is cheap anymore, except me, of course.

The Pink VW Surfer Bus that was considered the "Holy Grail" in the Hot Wheels world(only one reportedly known made) sold a few months back for $72,000.00! The seller planned on buying a Dodge Viper. Paul Borowski Massillon,Ohio #26140

Re: Hot Wheels.Pilot line or prototype VW bus

Paul-The Pink bus you speak of is indeed a one off prototype that had been along with many other mint Hot Wheels owned by a long time Mattel employee. There were no production versions in this color.A dealer got wind of the guy and bought his collection and resold the bus for the big money. An original mint VW bus packaged is worth considerably less,so don't go out and pay $20,000 for a VW bus which might be worth $3,000 or $4,000 tops.
