    '69 Baldwin-Motion

I ran across a guy that has a baldwin -Motion '69 coupe. Is there an easy way to tell if it is original without paying $15,000 to Joel Rosen? And also, would the car have the original engine if it was a baldwin-motion 427 correct car? It is a gt with the headlights in the fender.

It is my understanding that all the original cars were purchased from Baldwin Chevrolet, so check the tank sticker and verify the original dealer if possible.
    Good luck,

        Re: '69 Baldwin-Motion

Baldwin was also a general purpose Chevy dealer.... Having a tank sticker that documents Baldwin as the ordering source will NOT confirm a given car was selected by Baldwin for conversion to a 'Motion' car. It will only 'modestly' confirm the TANK that sticker was on was a car originally shipped to Baldwin.

In my mind that's NOT sufficient evidence that a given car truly was a Baldwin 'Motion' conversion vehicle to a SERIOUS buyer. In this case, absent other compelling evidence (prior owner affidavits, original bill of sale, Etc.) you're 'stuck' with paying the fee Baldwin asks in order to obtain serious/compelling proof of origin....

            Are you serious?

About ten years ago, I heard Rosen's verification fee was $1,500 or so. Is he really asking $15,000 these days?

I am with Jerry on this. I read an article where it stated Rosen's fee was $1500. Did you hear the $15000 from Rosen or just word of mouth? $15000 for documentation is absurd but a true Motion car would be worth it, imho. If the figure is indeed $1500, you ought to make a deal with the seller. If the car turns out to be a Motion car, you will pay the $1500. If it is not, you split the fee with him! Fair?

Maybe I misunderstood the fee from Rose. I will see the owner of the car again today and ask him. The car is not for sale, it is a project that has been setting for 20+ years. I just would like to know if he is correct about the car.
