    1967 427/390 with A/C fan shroud

I read through all the archive posts with "fan shroud", but I was unable to come to a conclusion. It could be that no one really knows the answers.
Forgive me for bringing it up again.

My '67 L36, with the C60 option has the (original) two bottom halves of the 3 piece assembly but is missing the top piece.
How is the piece I'm missing supposed to be attached (glued, riveted, or other)?
What is acceptable for NCRS judging?
Is there a 4th piece, an extension, that goes on the bottom of the shroud for A/C cars?
Is that just for small blocks?
I'm looking for opinions on what to do.
Several people mentioned Corvette Image as a good source for replacement fan shrouds.
Has anyone with a Corvette Image shroud had it judged?
(or any other recommended source for that matter)
(in particular on a 66-68, BB with A/C)
Were they pleased with the results?
the www.corvetteimage.com web-page doesn't seem to be responding.

    Thanks in advance.

David - Checkout the '67 Corvette AIM UPC L-36, Sheet A1 for the V-8 Engine 427- Contents and specifically UPC L-36, Sheet A5.5 on the Radiator Fan Shroud for the construction of the basic BB fan shroud. Then UPC C60, Sheet A1 for the Air Conditioning- Contents and specifically UPC C60, Sheet B2.5 for the AC - Fan Shroud Ring which shows under Item 1 a 3887428 as the Part Number for the Fan Ring for the RPO L-36.

You might also try Long Island Corvette Supply (www.licorvette.com) for the fan shroud and ring. See Section #25 of their catalog. Good luck.

The shroud should be glued. That said, some have been observed that had one or maybe even two solid rivets with washers. But generally glued only. I think the matter of whether the shroud extension is used or not has been discussed here before. If I remember correctly earlier 66 had them and later did not. It may also be related to equipment and options. I know that most 67s that I have observed did not. As for the Corvette Image part. It is made of black fiberglass with strands showing like originals. It is very good, but as with most repro parts will have grinding at the edges instead of the mold formed edge.

BTW, the corvetteimage web-page is working now.

It sounds like there really is no controversy.
According to the information presented here, and the 1967 Judging Manual, the parts were supposed to be glued, not riveted (although some seem to have been riveted).
This matches the information in the AIM.
Also from the AIM, there were no special instructions for the C60 option, small block or big block, so all C60 engines should have the extra fan ring.

Upon closer inspection, my fan shroud does have the ring, but not the correct bolts.
And what's left of a rivet where the top piece attaches to the driver's side.
(The passenger side appears to be broken off)

So I've just got to find the top piece, or get a whole new shroud assembly at the Winter Regionals on Friday.
(Not ready for judging yet - still going for the swap meet).

Is that the '67 your dad had up in Alabama or someplace that the renters did a great disservice to?

I think that the top should be available at the swap meet. I am not sure if Corvette Image will be there but there should be a dealer selling their parts. Also Jim Shermershiem (sp) will also probably be there. He also reproduces this item.

And take yer heavy clothes. I understand it was below freezing Thursday morning.

                    Yes, the same one.

That's good to hear. I was so tied up I didn't check back in here or maybe we could have met up at Old Town today. I'm off to Daytona for Girl Scout Family Day on Saturday and doubt I make it back to Old Town on Sunday.

I thought I'd need to but the auction prices are so insane, I'm not.

I did indeed find the top part at the swap meet ($30) Friday.
It's from a service replacement shroud (GM #3938940).
I suppose that's pretty good, but the bottom 2 pieces I have are original.
I did not see Corvette Image there.
I found someone selling a bunch of shrouds/parts made by Jim Shermershiem (sp?), but I did not purchase one.
Heavy clothes were not necessary at all, it was in the 70s.
I'm not sure where you heard it was below freezing, I live in Melbourne (FL), and it was only down in the (upper) 40's Thursday morning here.
                            Friday was warmer.
Today (Saturday) is cool (60's), but not cold.
Tomorrow (Sunday) forcast is for rain, and it may drop down in the 30's but not until after the show is over. I love Florida.
