66 ground strap near brake block goes where?

I am not sure about the correct place to attach the other end of the ground strap that is bolted to the frame near the brake block. I assume it connects to a harness or electrical part, but doesn't look long enough to reach the alternator or regulator - both of which are above it in my A-C, PB, BB roadster.

Is it supposed to be there? If so does anyone know where it connects?

I believe the ground strap you are talking about is the ground to the engine from the frame. It connects to the upper A arm on the drivers side and to the engine mount bolt on the block.

Is this for BB cars only?
radio equipped cars get this on passenger side see U69 A4 but I could not find driver side strap in the AIM

I'm going to make the assumption that my '65 and your '66 are the same in this regard.

If you are asking about a ground strap that is approximately six inches long and has a larger ring terminal on one end that the other, it is used to ground the engine. Remember that the engine is setting on rubber mounts.

I cannot find it in the AIM but it is discussed in the TIM & JG under the category "Front Engine Mount Assemblies and Ground Strap." It is secured at the frame and the upper forward engine mount bolt.

The ground straps typically appear in the AIM under U69 option....radio option.

The motor mount strap exists. This is another one

There is a much longer one bolted into a threaded hole in the frame near the brass brake block.

The TIM&JG says radio cars have this on the left side only and the 66 AIM (u69 A4)shows this on the pass side.???

Great observation. This looks like a mystery to be solved.

Indeed the TIM & JG states that the ground strap is on the left side only. In the '65 AIM, section U69, page A4 (E418) it shows the g-strap on the RH Engine Mount Asm.

What I know is my March '65 has the g-strap on the left side only per the JG. Perhaps others will comment.

My L36 A-C car has a LH engine mount strap

But the strap near the brake block is not that one. Is it supposed to be?
