Hi Erik, The only real one's were the 5 "1963" Grand Sports built by Chevrolet.This is a copy,restoration of a 1966 to look like the original Grand Sport.Very nice job though. Hope it's scaring alot of foreign cars on the autobaun. Save the Wave.>George -

how often those who are selling the Grand Sport conversions call into the description enough Grand Sport history to make you think this is somehow one of the five built. They use a lot of smoke and mirrors before you find simply that this is a "XXX Custom Grand Sport kit" or a "handmade Grand Sport" or whatever.
I know and was involved with the guy who made possibly the first, one that I think Vette Magazine called "Grand Sport 006", and while it was a neat car, it was still just a customized Corvette.
And he was rightfully proud of it.
But these sellers seem to be ashame to admit they built it or that they bought a kit, instead using 50 lines of text to mask it behind Grand Sport history.Comment

No, it's not, and this is about the tenth time it's been listed on eBay in the last year; the guy called me about six months ago and offered it to me since he knew I was a GS freak and had built one, and I politely declined. It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, but many important areas where it should be faithful to the originals were ignored when they built the car; now it's just another "kit car". You'd think if someone was going to pour a major bundle of money into the build a GS replica, they'd at least put it on a tube frameComment
