Does anyone know if there is a book or a place you can look up all the cars that have won awards since the NCRS started in 1974,in all catagories.

Re: NCRS award winners book
Dennis, Do you think it would be of intrest to the membership ? I am disabled & I would love to do something with all my time. Do you think putting an NCRS awards book together would be helpful to the members ? I know I wouldn't mind submitting pictures along with the awards my car has won. Also some history about the car that I found out while researching my 58 before I bought it. Atleast Roy wouldn't get phone calls from people like me trying to find out if my cars awards were the real thing. Cheers,

Re: NCRS award winners book
Deb,
I the "Restorer" prints the event judging awards results in each issue.
Not sure if it goes back to 1974.
Terry McManmon is the editor and you could also contact him.

Re: NCRS award winners book
Hi Dick, I have to thank you & Dennis for your thoughtful replies to my inquiry.
Out of nearly 150 views I got two replies. I guess that answers my question. Their doesn't seem to be enough intrest on the subject. I have met quite a few members that are so passionate about the restoration of their Corvettes. They seem to be so into making these cars right, right down to the very last screw. I was under the impression that an awards book would be a nice addition to the Restorer, it would be an easy thing to do if the Restorer has all the information on these cars combined with Roy Sinor. What a nice addition for the NCRS store. Alot of members really should be recognized for all the sweat & hours they put into this kind of really hard work, not to mention what wonderful artists these folks are. I can tell just from reading all the posts on this board, the dedication & sharing of information is great. I guess I was dreaming again, we girls just can't compete with the nut & bolts knowledge of all the guys.
Regards,

Hi! Deb
I have checked you posting a couple of times. I do not think it is the lack of interest, or at least not for me. I just did not have enough knowledge to answer your question.

Re: NCRS award winners book
Debra,
If I may put my two cents in on your idea. As mentioned in an earlier post, the flight winners are posted in each Restorer edition for the most recent chapter and regional meets. I have personally contacted some top flight winners off of these lists to gather insight and technical information from them for my projects. I think one of the concerns over publishing the kind of retro-list that you mention is that even though a car got a top-flight or Bloomington Gold even a few years ago, doesn't mean that it is still in the same "correct" condition now as it was then. I know of several cars that have been "strategically dismantled" in order to sell off those very expensive NOS parts that were invested in to get the top awards, and then sold off to recoup some of the investment. Who am I to say that they shouldn't do that? Unfortunately, you see these cars later being advertised as TF or BG and in fact they are not anymore. Secondly, as often as these level of cars are bought and sold the list of owners would in a lot of cases not be the same owner as was then.
As far as the girls not being as knowledgeable as the guys, there are some really well informed corvette women out there that I have had the pleasure of learning many technical things from during judging events. Don't sell yourself short. Your passion for your '58 is wonderful and it won't be long before you become an expert on it if your questions and enthusiasm is any indication. Good luck.

Re: NCRS award winners book
Thanks anyway you guys, it was just a thought. I figured NCRS would have all the winners catalogued. I know when I called Mr. Sinor when I bought my 58 he looked up the VIN, he then was able to give me alot of info on my car . I got all the documentation with my car, from dealer delivery & owner service policy, the 1000 mile coupon from GM. It is really neat stuff to have. I was able to look up, call & speak to the owner who won the awards in 2000. I enjoyed the hunt, so to speak. I didn't think it would be so monumental. I thought I would just ask the members who have good info, awards & stories, it might have been fun. As Rosanna Rosannadana used to say on SNL, " Never Mind".

Re: NCRS award winners book
Debra,
A bolt and nuts book might be desired by a lot of members (what bolts/nuts/washers with what kind of head-markings should fit in what position of each year car)... I would certainly be interrested!

Re: NCRS award winners book
I don't recall saying I wanted to write a book. I just asked,
"Does anyone know if there is a book or a place you can look up all the cars that have won awards since the NCRS started in 1974,in all categories". A book with the Award winners would make a great coffee table book at my house.
Cheers,
