    Mufflers

Looking for suggestions for a good sounding muffler. Have used Flowmasters, but they are starting to sound a bit whimpy. Looking for the deep melow sound out of a small block with dual exhaust. Any suggestions?? Thanks

    Me too

I am especially interested if anyone has experience with the Magnaflow (Corv Central) or Dynomax who both make a direct fit for the C2.

      Re: Mufflers

I can speak for the 2 1/2" Magnaflow Mufflers from Corvette Central on my '74 C3...very happy with the sound, muffler quality, construction and look (hideaway style). I knew I would compromise some point deductions for all of the above, but for what it's worth, I still received a few nice compliments from the NCRS judges on the "whole system". I'm not familar with the configuration differences between the C2 & C3 exhaust systems, but you may or may not encounter the need to purchase additional pipes. My original intentions were to attach the mufflers to my existing pipes...although the pipes I had were in good condition, they were set in their ways. I ended up having to install new fronts and secondaries which allowed me to make the adjustments necessary to achieve a perfect fit. Good luck with yours...

I like my Borlas. My neighbors tell me they can always hear me coming down the street with my '66 300hp smallblock.

Does Borla make a direct fit replacement or did you have to adapt. I want mufflers that tuck up under fender like oroginal.

            Re: Mufflers

Randy: My Borlas fit very nicely up under the fender. To the non-NCRS type they would look very original indeed. When I bought my car it already had headers (which I liked) and some other things that would make it difficult to ever become a candidate for flight judging. However, it's a beautiful car and I do try to avoid making it look unnecessarily nonstandard. So it was important to me that these mufflers fit right and "looked" correct. I'll see if I can find my old invoice from the shop that installed them for me in 2001. Maybe they'll have a part # that's still valid.
