Can anyone tell me the ratio and code for the G92 axle in 1981. The Pocket Guide and Tech Manual show only a 2.87 available with A.T., but the guide also shows 2,400 cars built with the G92. What gives?

Re: 1981 Rpo G92
According to the 1981 Corvette News article, the base axle ratio for 49 states was 2.87, with automatic. In California however, the base was 2.72, with 2.87 as an option. G92 is a generic RPO for performance axle. therefore, I believe the G92 refers to those california cars that got the 2.87 axle.- Top
