    C3, 1973 Wheel Center Covers

What is the correct part number for these wheel center covers?
While overhauling my brakes I noticed that three of the four have different P/N's and two of the four appear to be constructed differently, the center portion w/ Chevrolet Division appears to be riveted on.

    Roger-----

The 68-82 wheel caps for rally style wheels is GM #3925801. That's the part number which was effective in 1968, the part number effective in 1982, and the part number which remains available to this very day, However, I don't think that this number appears anywhere on the part.

The caps were comprised of 2 components----the stainless steel "dish" section and the zinc diecast ornament (with "Chevrolet Motor Division" embossed on it). The ornament section is GM #3925805 and that number (or, a number close to that number) may be embossed on the rear of it. This piece was and remains available seperately from the stainless steel section. The stainless steel section has no number on it that I know of and was never available seperately----only as part of the complete wheel cap assembly 3925801.

The ornament is attached to the "dish" section by special screws.

      Joe,

The stainless dish section alone must have been availible at some point as part number 3925802.

Yes, I checked more thoroughly and it was available from September, 1967 through November, 1968. That's because during the 1968 model year the complete cap (dish + ornament) was NOT available. The only way you could get it was to buy the 2 components and assemble them.

Beginning with the 1969 model year and including 1968 SERVICE, the dish component was available only as a complete cap assembly. The ornament section continued to be available seperately, though.
