    It depends

I've sold three Corvettes through eBay, and I've had one that did not sell. The one that did not sell was an original paint '64 FI convertible you could drive home. It was bid up to $24,000, which didn't meet my $34,000 reserve.

About 90% of the bidders were dealers in my auctions. They would quickly take the high bid up to the wholesale value of the car, and then they'd stop bidding. Only a few individual hobbyists bid on the cars I auctioned.

I tried to fully describe the cars, flaws and all, so the bids would be genuine. I also offered 15 - 20 good photos along with my phone number. I said in the auction payment terms that a $1000 deposit was required within a week after the auction ended. The rest was due when the car was picked up. If the buyer thought I had not described the car properly, he could get his full deposit refunded when he inspected the car.

I suggest you leave out all those threats about prosecuting deadbeat bidders. Either someone is going to pay for your car or they're not. It's not really that different from completing a deal based on a print ad. If you've described the car clearly, you'll probably get a real buyer with real money. Just don't expect to hit a home run because it's an auction. The prices I got were within a few hundred of what I had thought the cars would bring.

There sure is. The right car that is well described and photo'd can do very well.

        Good luck.

Just a thought, why was the car relisted tonight with a buy it now price of $92,500, especially when it was sold for $104? Is this our friend in Spain, Italy, or some where else over seas?

I saw the relisting after I posted. I'm not sure about this '58 in particular. I have seen some legitimate sales of nice C1 and C2 cars on ebay. I bought my '61 through ebay last year. I saw the ad and went and checked it out myself in person before the sale ended. I got a really fine car. As always, let the buyer beware.

                  Cheapest and Best Advertising Available

Ebay is NOW the "Cheapest and Best Advertising Value" available for the selling of a collector vehicle. MORE lookers and MORE buyers will "see" your car on Ebay than going to a dozen swap meets or advertising in a dozen different "Autotraders"! Great pictures and description are key. All the to other methods of advertising require a lot more "work" for the buyer to find your car's ad and generally will allow as many pictures.

Your car may not sell "on" Ebay but will most likely sell the car "because" of your Ebay ad. Spend the $40.00 for the auction on Ebay. You will be glad you did!!!

                    Hi Rich

That car was in Unique Corvettes inventory. That's where the picture comes from. It is shown as "sold" on their website. Maybe somebody's trying to make a few bucks, but that's hard to believe knowing what Unique charges!

I know the car was Uniques, more than once actually. Nice car, it has since been pulled from Ebay, $104k is a nice number for that car, if they got paid that is. I hope all is well

Unique brought that car to Carlisle last year. I believe it bid to the high 90's and did not sell.
