Dash (1965) - Painting Question - Need Advice

Hello all! I just finished repainting the dash (wishbone) of my 65 with bright blue interior dye. I have also done the pads with the same dye. Everything looks good so far.

    My question is this:
I am considering spraying the wishbone with clear semi-gloss (SEM). I need advice as to whether this will produce too much sheen for the dash itself. I have no idea what the finish on originals looked like. My thought was to gain a little extra protection against scratching and wear and tear on the dash. I will leave the pads in the matte finish that the interior dye produced.
    Semi-gloss or Matte???
    Any advice/info will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Problem is that the center of the dash was painted in low gloss 3% Lacquer, not Dye. I think that any clear coat, even matte would be too glossy.
