    Removing torque converter/drive plate bolts

I'm trying to remove the engine from my '71 C3 with 350/Th400. I have been able to stop the crank from turning by allowing the breaker bar to contact the frame on p/side, but I can't get the bolts to break loose. I'm AFRAID to using too much torque will snap the bolt or strip it. Do these bolts use 'left hand' threads ?

    Thanks
