    L-72 4-speed cross shaft question

With the thanks to those on the board, I got my LH exhaust manifold out by removing the cross-shaft and bringing the manifold out the bottom.

Now that I have the cross-shaft out, are there any wear items that should be checked or replaced before I put it back it?

Should the grease in the tube be cleaned out and new grease installed?

As usual, thank you for your help.

While the cross shaft is out - just check the "ball joints" and plastic sockets for wear. All parts are readily available. Check to see if your grease retainer "felts" are in good shape as well. Check your AIM to see if you have all the correct pieces in evidence. Clean out the old grease and reinstall with fresh grease.

--------Also check both ends of both the upper and lower clutch rods as that is where most of the wear accumulates. They can get very sloppy!..........Bill S
